UNKNOWN STORED CODE

Gentlemen, After running the Foxwell on my SL I got a code that states " No or incorrect CAN message from control unit N1 5/3 (ETC [EGS] control unit) Communication fault /See also CAN status in freeze frame data (P0600)"
I wonder if this is related to the Pedal Travel sensor which is the only issue I see happening! Other than that I have no noticeable issues.>!

Thanks for sharing your infinity knowledge!

I have no idea, but these cars are known to have pedal issues. I know throwing parts at something hoping it will work is silly, but at this point, consider it an educated guess.

AFAIR that was one of the codes thrown by the pedal overreach. Did you clear it - and did it come back? If it doesn't come back then don't worry, might be a good idea to pack the pedal up with a washer (search for the fix) or replace it.

Tom, do you mean shortening the sensor travel by changing the zero volts to perhaps 1 volt?

No, take it out and dismantle it and you will see where the wear is and how to pack it up so it travels all the way but does not overshoot. No issues with mine since, but a new pedal isn't much so you can just replace it.

Worn pedal will throw the car into limp, turning it off and on again fixes it. Did you clear the code out and did it come back?

Tom, yes, I cleared the code and after 20 miles of driving, the check engine light came back. When I am taking a turn and decelerate, upon accelerating to come out of the turn, have to move the throttle pedal to make a shift to the lower gear to respond..! That is telling me that there may be something related to that pedal ...! I will take it out and measure the ohms across the range to see what I find! If not linear will put a spacer, test it and if the issue is fixed, will replace! I see the part is around $100..!

I can't remember if it is a Hall effect sensor in there or a potentiometer. If it's a pot, you can connect a meter across it and slowly operate the pedal through its range and look for any spikes in the resistance. This is easier done with an old fashioned analogue meter, rather than a digital Ohms meter.

But, for $100.00 - best to replace it.
