Glove box door replacement
The latch strike on my glove box door broke. I purchased a new glove box door but have not been able to find instructions on how to replace the door without taking the whole glove box out. Any thoughts? Thanks in advance!

Glove door replacement
On my 2004 SL500 I had to disconnect negative cable on rear battery and then front starter battery
open passenger door and carefully remove side panel for glove compartment
you see a curve gear lever and screw and washer that holds curve lever in place
also remove any screws on side panel if ther are with glove box
remove rt side console trim gently pry off to expose hidden screw place a small bucket with rags to support glove box assembly inside passenger footwell
note which screws hold the top of glove box secure and remove them
Gently lower glove box onto bucket note position of lock cable and electrical wires
very important - plastic will be brittle so use a hairdryer and gently warm the cable attaching plastic holders to lock and also glove box light
remove light assembly carefully while plastic is warm
i didn’t disconnect aux cable so I turned glove box upside down to expose hinges and pins
gently warm hinges and knock out hinge pins with a small nail and hammer use a little oil to help with pin removal with needle nose
glove box cover will separate
installation is reversal except use hair dryer when snapping loc cable back and take time repositioning wires cable and cglove box assembly if the assembly goes back in without trouble then everything is where it should be
