SL/R230: CDC not coded into Comand

CDC not coded into Comand
Hi. I recently bought a R230 SL350 2008 which has the CD Changer mounted behind the drivers seat. The CDC seem to work just fine, it's connected to the MOST nw and it scans the CD trays at ignition on but I do not have any CDC soft button in my Audio section on the NTG1 Comand head unit. I did a check with my OBD2 tool and it looks like the CDC for some reason is not coded into the Comand unit. My understanding is that even if the CDC would be missing from the MOST nw or malfunctioning, as long as the CDC option is coded into the Comand it would show up on the Audio section - is my understanding correct, or may there be other reasons (than it not being coded into the unit) for the CDC soft button not to show? Because it seem very odd that the car is delivered with a CDC but it's not coded as an option into the head unit.
I've tried to access the engineering mode on my unit but it seem it has been disabled because none of the key combinations I've found seem to work. Do I need to get the vehicle in to dealer for them to code this with SDS or is there any way for myself to activate/code the CDC into the Comand unit?

You seem to be 'new', so I'm telling you the obvious. I would disconnect ground on the rear battery first, then ground on the front battery. Next, disconnect plus up front and finally plus at the rear battery. This sequence is the only way to handle the batteries, always.
Leave it for 10 minutes or so and reconnect batteries in reverse order. Check if this resets your NTG-1 to the effect it now recognizes your CDC. If not, seek further guidance here.
After every electric power break you'll have to synchronize your windows by holding their switch as they move up plus one more second (doors closed).
Also, you'll need to sync the steering angle sensor by turning the steering wheel lock to lock.

Many thanks Frederick for your tips, much appreciated! I tried to power cycle it as you described but to no avail. I still do not get the CD Changer option in the Audio mode menu - I only have Radio, CD and MP3-CD.

Problem solved - it was related to the Dension unit I had installed to get BT audio. Looking closer in the diagnostics it seemed that the CDC was indeed coded but not recognized so I pulled the Dension unit out and voila, the CDC worked. Note to self - should have checked the functionality of the CDC before I started to save myself some headache. Root cause was that the Dension had a set of DIP-switches on the back to identify the car make - these switches are a bit flimsy so they got changed when I put the unit back. With correct DIP-switch settings it worked perfectly.
