Price for Star C5 and also some other questions
The price for this Star C5 diagnostic at amzon.com must be cheap if it is correct?
It looks like everthing is included as well.
There is even cheaper Star C5 but with older version software at their website
Which version of Star is best for the SL R230, SL R231 and S class C217 coupe models?
I have never used the Star diagnosis myself but when it comes to computers and software i have been working with that for a very long time.
I suppose that the models of the Star i have listed can be updated online? I also suppose that you will have to pay for each update?

This price is for a D630 Dell and a SSD disk with Xentry software look at the "color" option, click the one to the right for a full system., sorry !
A C5 is a C4 in a different plastic box.
A dell D650 is worth about US$50, very old and slow. The Xentry software is more or less free, if you look.

The Dell D630 is one of the last popular laptops with an RS232 port, so it is kind of the machine of choice to use with a STAR C3. I'm not sure why they are offering it with a C5(C4), which is ethernet, you can use a much newer laptop with a C4. I would recommend getting an SSD with the software installed. It is a huge download and there is quite a bit of setup. For around $75 you get the SSD with everything installed. Unless you have done it before, you will spend hours trying to get the that point and still need an SSD to load it on.
You still have to create keys because they are dependent on the laptop, but it is much easier than working from scratch. I would also buy the multiplexer and software from the same company. That way, one can't blame the other for it not working.

I know the lapatop is antique nd i have a much better laptop at home that i never use but i could have used it for this.
I read the ad in a hurry and copied a couple of puictures so i thought the price was for the laptop, multiplexer, well all of the parts needed
