ABC Tandem Pump Source
Hi All,
I recently bought a 2004 SL500 and love it. 100k mi. so expected issues are coming up.
Note: Just replaced the 4 accumulators and a couple of months ago found a way to remove and replace the front blocking valves using just a hose clamp, screwdriver and needle nose pliers (pliers for the elec. connector). No need to remove the valve block or any hoses. That was so I could replace the O-rings for $40. Working on the ABC system is a fun challenge and there seem to be many work arounds for the previously difficult and expensive repairs.
Next challenge: The ABC pump seems to be leaking at the shaft because green fluid drips down from behind the pulley. So, time for an ABC pump.
My problem is that the named rebuilders of ABC tandem pumps (AC Delco, etc.) that have been recommended in the past don't seem to offer the pump anymore.
I've looked for more recent recommendations but can't find any that stand out.
I don't want to buy from a nameless rebuilder off of Ebay for such a crucial part. I see that Cardone and Atlantic Enterprises make them but don't know anything about them.
Would you please recommend a proven rebuilder of ABC Tandem pumps for the 2004 SL500?
Thanks for the help!
Larry
