Diagnostic scan help

Hi,

I’ve recently had issues with my 2003 R230. The roof indicating it’s not closed when it actually is. I assume it’s the sensor on the passenger side windshield, as the car doesn’t recognize the roof as locked, and the windows remain slightly lowered. I decided to use a scanner to scan the car and now see numerous fault codes. The car functions completely fine, except that the roof is constantly in “operation” mode and my doors only unlocking when I’m standing right next to the driver door and using the remote. Are these actual faults, or is this due to a communication issue?

I tried to change my overhead interior light to an LED. I took out the original bulb, put in the LED bulb, but it didn’t work. Then, I tried putting the original bulb back in, and now the entire overhead interior light doesn’t work. Could I have blown a fuse, and is that causing this issue? Could it also be stopping the roof light from working?

Thank you for your help!

Yes, roof closed switch is read by overhead control panel. Fix that and you should be good.

Do you think it’s the fuse or the module? Everything was working fine until I tried to change the bulb. As soon as I replaced one, the other one went off immediately. I took one out while both were on, not sure if the car/lights needed to be off. I put the original bulb back in, and after a while, both lights turned back on. But when I tried the new LED bulb again, it went off and hasn’t come back on since, even with the original bulb.

Do you think this could be a fuse or module issue? And is the fuse box on the passenger side under the hood, near the battery

Thank you!

So as you thought, it was the fuse! I put it in, and the lights came on, the roof closed, and the windows went up. Now, unfortunately, my roof just won’t open. I hold the button, and I hear the motors running and the car struggling, but the roof doesn’t go up. The back windows come down, and the trunk opens a bit, but that’s it. I forced the trunk open, the flaps are open, but the roof won’t go back. It just keeps making the same motor-running noise. My roll bar doesn’t even come up; again, I hear the motor running, but nothing moves. It’s not giving me any errors—it just won’t move. Any thoughts?

Thank you for your help so far!

That is between limit switch positions, so it is probably low pressure in the system. Check fluid level and check for external leaks in the front latch, frame locks, and the trunk lift cylinders. These are all on the same circuit, so one spewing fluid will directly affect the trunk lift. You can also have internal bypass in one or more cylinders.

Check the fluid level in the pump. Sounds like no pressure issue.
