Question 500SL front rotor size

Out of idle curiosity, does anyone know why the front rotors on 04s are 12.3" while the 03s' were 13"(same rotor as rear of SL55). Could the 17" wheel option only on 500SLs have an interference with rotor/ground on blowouts? Dealer says doesn't know. I have an 04.

You're not dumb.
The rotor is the part where the brake pads squeeze to slow and stop the car.
Hoorah for having an older SL!

That's a brake rotor from an E46 BMW.
