Why does everyone say that the HP on the R230 Sl600’s are 493?
Even a google search on that spec shows that result. But It’s incorrect…
Look at this old brochure from Mercedes themselves. You can clearly read that their Mercedes V12 bi-turbo produces 510 HP and not 493 HP.
“Sometimes you have to turn it up to 12. The SL 600 draws its strength from 12 bi-turbo cylinders. The V-12 summons 510 horsepower and 612 Ib-ft of torque.” -Mercedes Source
Tunes are readily available which boost these numbers significantly; enough to make it feel like a different car. The BIG names charge ridiculous amounts for their tunes; small private businesses charge much less, have great results and can fine-tune for additional mods and desired octane.
