I have the typical permanent "bronze" effect on my driver's exterior rear view mirror. My car is a 2004 SL500 r230.
There are suppliers for replacement mirrors for the 2003-2004s. They say they are heated. Images show a back that have two electrical tabs for the connections (see photo).
Does this look correct for a 2004? (Other less specific ads show the same mirror for the whole run of r230s that have a plastic male/female connector.)
Does my 2004 have the self dimming feature?
Are there any tips for removing the old mirror/backing plate?
Also, my mirror stays warm to the touch all the time as evidenced again yesterday at 1:00 PM and 80 degrees outside. I don't really need a heated mirror for frost so if I don't have the self dimming I am thinking about not reconnecting the tabs. Or is there an easy way to troubleshoot why they are always warm?
Comments? Thanks. (Boy, that's 4 questions in 1 post.) Backing plate showing two metal electrical connection tabs for 2003-2004 r230s. I believe this photo is upside down.
