Cleaning Floormats
Don't ever try and cleaning your floor mats by washing them in a cloths washing machine. It will cause the foam backing to separate from the carpet, and create a big mess. It's better to use a brush and soapy water to clean it.

I have just pressure washed all of the deterioration from the mats. It seems that once they get to this age, they are going to crumble and make a mess on the carpet. It doesn’t seem to affect the top side whatsoever.

well, as, i was bored at a stoplight and just looked at my dirty floor mat and thought i would just make something up about it.

You might try something called an "Extractor" which pushes pressurized steam into a nozzle and also has a vacuum on it to clear the debris and steam. Sure there are cheap ones on Amazon, but good ones cost $1500+ used by automotive detail shops.
In other words, find a detail shop with one and have them clean your car's carpets and floor mats. (My body shop has one; guess I should try it myself, but first need to fix it as an employee ran over a hose.)
