Like a lot of us on the forum I recently got an illuminated SRS warning light. (2008 SL550) I suspected it was the passenger side weight sensor as I had recently transported a case of wine on the seat and it had flickered. I searched the Forums and read the advice given as well as watched YouTube tutorials on seat removal and SRS tips, including one that told me to turn off the passenger side weight sensor with the glove box lock. It was at the end of my driving season so I had some time to search thru it, I couldn’t get it to reset with my scanner, ICarsoft for MB, it would go out and come back on. I had an appointment with my Indy to replace the cam cover gaskets so I asked him to see what he could find with his SDS. Again passenger seat weight sensor. He told me he could fix it if I wanted to try and source the part, $450 dealer but not available. I took it home and decided to go thru the plugs again. What I found is in the two pics I shared, that plug is on the inside (near the console) rear of the passenger seat. I used my phone to look up and under the seat and found the culprit. Got it connected and cleared the code no problem. I figured the seat base from moving back and forth as well as the bottom cushion moving back and forth may have caused my issue. If I removed the seat as a lot of tutorials suggest I may not have found it and would have spent the cash to replace the pad. So I guess always check around the whole seat, here in Maine an SRS light means you don’t pass state inspection, so it couldn’t be ignored. This is after I pushed it in and slid the lock bar into place This is how this plug looked when I first looked at it, the red is the flexible part of the plug used to help keep the connections dry.
