2004 Mercedes Benz SL500
What is the purpose of this compartment?
I was looking at repairing my center console latch when I notice this small cover on the underside of the lid. I took it off, thinking it might give me access to removing the latch, but it doesn’t. Still, I wonder what the purpose of it is. I assume the foam insert shown n picture “C” is there just to keep it from rattling. Can anyone shed light on this? Thanks!

Never mind. I just found my answer. It is for something electronic that was not installed on my car. Thanks anyway.
