SL/R230: ABC Pump leaking?
I have a 2006 SL500 with 155k miles. I replaced the ABC pump (eBay) and front damper a while back, and everything worked fine until a valet bottomed the car out. The bumper and underside were damaged, and the red ABC light came on. The warning went away for a bit, but now the pump is leaking fluid from the lower bolt.
The pump still runs at 180–190 bar, and the car can do a rodeo without issues, but I’m not sure how to fix this leak or what to check next.
Has anyone dealt with something similar? Any advice would be appreciated.
Thanks!
as annoying as it is, there is no fixing that leak really. The hydraulic shock could be blamed as the cause, but still the leak remains. I replaced mine with a very reputable brand and supplier, which unfortunately leaked from the front black cover. It was a very minor leak, so was able to use it while I awaited a replacement from the supplier. They eventually obtained a second unit and I had to go through the pain of a second replacement. I would try and obtain a more reputable unit.
I did strip down my old unit, which was in great condition. There someone who sells a seal service kit for these units, but I never went that way. They eventually obtained hardest part of the strip was removing the front drive pad/pulley. I had to get a hyd shop to do this and it was a challenge for them too.
I do have my old one in pieces if you are interested in going this way - I’m certain all this one needs is a seal kit.
Apologies I could not offer better news

Both of the pumps I have are OEM, and now both are leaking. I was thinking about getting a seal kit and repairing them... I might go that way. In the meanwhile, I put some gorilla seal on the bolt and it temporarly fixed the issue until I decide what to do with it.
Thanks a lot for the advice!
