engine heat

I am thinking about getting a SL600, but I have a concern about the heat in the feet area.

I have to have the air condition on in the summer with my top down when I drive my SLK 320, because I can feel the heat around my feet. Once the air condition is on, I feel no heat around my feet.

I also feel heat at the feet area of my CL 600. I wonder whether that's normal.

I mention it to MBUSA, and they said I was the first to mention it. I can barley feel the heat on my 2004 SL500 and I do not have the air condition on when I drive with the top down.

The heat is very noticeable on my SLK 320. But the heat goes away when the air condition is on.

Never Noticed the Heat in the feet area

I like it COOL and have not noticed any heat problem in the feet area of my 05 SL600.

I haven't noticed any heat problems. The climate control works well for me.

Are you driving with the air condition off in your SL? If I drive with the air condition on with the top down, I get real bad condensation around the vents.

But on my SLK320, I do not get condenation at all when I drive with the top down and air condition on.

I would just guess when you have a sizeable engine in a small area e.g. the V-12 in the SL, or the 3.2 liter in the smallish SLk, thermal exchange is normal. My old mechanic had an S-600 which he had to sell because the tremendous amount of heat was damaging parts under the hood, plus components under the dash near his feet. I remember he complained about the heat in that area too.

Get a 600. Mine has made me almost hate my SL 500 (If I didnt love that Designo Silver so much it would've been gone last week). It's a completely diffeent experience. Heat @ the feet has not been a problem for me. I smile every moment that I drive it.

I just got my 1st lease statement and I'll have no regrets when I write that check.
