Hi everyone - New to me - 2008 SL55 AMG owner. One of the key fobs is broken in the chrome area. It wasn't working at all, but after a few battery checks, and removing some plastic debris that were in the way its fully functional with the keyless go.
I see some fobs online that I might be able to replace the electronics with - there seem to be some variants mine is a two battery version. What I don't know is it looks like the chrome part is embedded into the electronics with the two battery tray, Is this specific to keyless go or any other programming? I was hoping to just swap that part out and use the internal electronics if that's the programming part. Any ideas?
Hi, just for anyone who wants to look at this repair down the road, I ordered a fob off of eBay - the two battery variant. It worked great, the keyless go radio is the board inside the fob, without the batteries, which can easily be removed if needed.
