SL/R230: Entry / Exit Convenience feature not working

Entry / Exit Convenience feature not working
I have the convenience entry/exit feature set to "seat goes back and steering wheel up" when exiting the car. When I open the door, nothing happens. Am I forgetting something?

Entering/exiting
That mode will only work if the seat is not already towards the rear. Try setting it with the seat moved closer to the steering wheel, even uncomfortably so you can test it.
My wife has her adjustment closer than mine so before getting in I pust the correct number button to allow the seat and steering wheel to move to the predesigned location. However, if the seat is already adjusted to the bigger clearance then it simply won't work.

I am not sure if they changed that for 2004 and later.
