SL/R230: Got my MB Cell phone installed today
We tested the phone and it works great, but what we love is the voice control over the command system. Wife and I were able to say CD1, track4 and the command system would play exactly what we say. We got excited.
We later program the phone with my brother's number. Now, we just say dial looser and it dials him.
I would recommend the MB phone because of the voice-activated system. The voice system will allow you to control the radio, CD, and phone with voice commands. The voice system will make driving a lot safer because you do not have to look for buttons to press.

However, just a note that the voice control system is completely separate from the phone. The VCS/VRM can be installed without a phone system, or in concert with any Mercedes integrated phone system (UHI/MHI/6310i/v60/startac etc.), or even with the semi-integrated phone systems (FSE11 etc.).
It can be installed before, after, or at the same time as a phone system.

Tigger, have you tried the VCS with the top down? Any problems with the wind?

The MB phone system voice quality with a V60S on a Verizon CDMA plan is a whole like better than my wife's Cingular GSM T720 when driving with the top down. Wife is so impress with Verizon that she will switch to Verizon next month when her Cingular contract expiries.

I'm impressed tiggerfink that your mso is so interested in such things not to mention your being willing to drive half-way across Tennessee to get it installed. There's commitment for you.
