Here is the link SL manual on the MB Germany site. Click "audio" on the left and you will see the inclusion of choices for AUX1 and AUX2.

Aside from some label changes on the buttons, the German COMAND unit appears identical to the one in my SL. This supports my contention that there must be AUX inputs on the '05 unit, unless they spec'ed different units for different markets, something that seems hard to fathom.

I have had to order a new command unit as mine is broken. When we went through the list of different part numbers you can't imagine how many different type of command units there are for this car.

My guess is that they have this in Germany, but not in the USA. That would not be a new one.

In addition, there are features on my command unit that I don't see in the book. One of them would be the SURROUND mode under CD's. I have that on my command but it does not show it in the book.

You may be correct-- when they yank out your old COMAND, make sure they let you inspect it, you'll be able to see whether it has AUX inputs.

What happened to your COMAND?

The unit came in with a real bad scratch across the front of the display unit. I don't expect it to be here anytime soon. It is on back order from Germany and that usually takes some time.

I will check the unit when it is switched for the AUX imputs. If it does have the AUX imputs my guess is you will need some software or firmware upgrade to make them work and show up on the screen.

Wonder why they never included it in the first place?

Agreed those wheels are well not up to par with the rest of the car some 19" 65 Edition AMG's or some nice HRE's would make it perfect. Your interor is amazing the head liner and birdseye maple trim is perfect.

Well, like we've already said before, the bigger the wheel, the more the ride is compromised and, depending on the state of the roads where you live, the greater the chance of the wheels being damaged. They're fine.

That's a neat link to the German Website. Thanks.
My SL (GB version) does have the aux inputs, although I'm not sure I would use them. Maybe in the future.
