I know this was talked about a while ago but does anyone know if you can convert a windows media Audio music file to an Mp3 so it will play in the command unit? It seems like the dell music match site that I bought songs from a while back are all "windows media audio" files and not Mp3's. I burned them on a cd and the command doesn't recognize it. Am I SOL with these songs or is there something I can do?

Thanks

Check out Roxio.com - I bet one of their products (like Toast) will be able to convert the WMA files to MP3.

There is a program called "TuneBite", you have to register, but then it re-records and can convert songs from .wma to .mp3 files

Wow,I had a nice 3hr drive to my beach house and since I burned 200 songs on one dvd I had non stop music the whole way and all of the sound issues I had with the command are gone with a music dvd. Even when I have clear reception the radio sound is terrible so this is a great surprise. Not only does it work great but you can see all the names of the songs on the command and in the info screens under the tach and speedometer. Thanks for the tips,I would have never known how to get this done or that it even could be done!

I had a question regarding burning MP3's on to the DVD. I tried it in my SL500 and it worked fine, however, i noticed there were "folder" buttons as softkey options. Is there a way to burn it so that you would be able to select which album you would like to listen to and then just have the tracks from that album listed so it was a bit more orginized? I noticed a "back" button for the folder option, so I am just curious....

All you have to do is put the songs in the different folders before you burn the dvd. Then when you put it into the player your sub folders come up and you can scroll through them and play just the one you want. Very cool, now I am not worried about having to get an ipod adapter because this is even easier and doesn't cost anything. (except a blank dvd!)

I bought dvd-rw and dvd+r because I wasn't sure either. The dvd+r worked and the dvd-rw didn't.

I just used the Dell one that came with my computer. You put the dvd in, hit burn, it asks you what you want to burn, I hit audio and it pulls up a list of all the audio tracks in my computer. I drop all the ones I want over to the right side and hit burn. Thats it.

Do you think Nero is better than Roxio Easy CD Creator?

Hands down.
If you need more information on Nero, shoot me an IM, and I'll see if I can send it to you and guide you in using it for the first time.

Thanks for the info and the offer. I do very little CD burning anymore. I used to do a backing up on CD or DVD, but now I use my back up hard drive. I have an older version of Nero and I have used it in the past. I think I will consider buying a new Nero V7 and give it a shot. But first, I think I will try the free trial version.
