Pirelli P Zero Rosso out at 21,000 miles.

My car (SL500 2003) comes with the abovementions tires and at only 21,000 miles one rear tire blow out by the inner side, I check the other rear tire and it almost equal so I have to buy two new pirellis 285/35 ZR18, but the question is, Is 21,000 miles too little for those kind of tires or that it's their average of life?

Any one has the same problem?

Any info is appresiate.

I think you did great to get that kind of mileage out of those tires. On cars like this with the torque over 300 ft/lbs. 15000 is doing well. I had those tires on a 2004 Volvo V70R and they were gone at 10000 miles. Were those the stock tires? my 04 Sl500 came with Michelin Pilot Sports.

21,000 miles on the tires that good.... ....I only get 7,000 miles on my tires.. ...I guess too much power that cause my tire to wear out....... :p

What do you mean by blow out? My wife got her front tire damage on the first week of owning her car. Something ripped the inner sidewall of her tire. Michelin sent us a new tire free of charge.

I know on other tires with mileage warranties, the manufacture will replace or credit the tire by thread depth on sidewall blowouts that is not cause by road hazards.

By the way, my SL has 12,000 miles and the tires still look new.

I am fast on the start and hard on the breaks. But I not slide my car or squeal my tires. I laugh at those folks that burn rubber. I drove my SLK today around 100 mph on my way to Nashville. We just have great roads where I live.

I just check my air in the tires every two weeks and leave them at the recommended tire pressure on the gas cap.

Very odd. Your tires should not be lasting this long!

My dad's Conti's are around 22k and still have some on them. We swapped the rears out at around 15k.

Mercedes
That's good enough if you can get 21000miles. Mostly people get only about 15Kmiles.

Agree that these wear out between 10-15k miles. I have taken one set up to about 26-28k miles before the ride was beginning to become affected. By that time the tread was very low, but they held up well. good tires
