Going down fast...HELP

Went to the Bentley dealer today and I was very impressed. The SL is in the garage and not moving. I am at 1411 miles and don't want to go over 1500.

I believe I will be ordering a 2006 Bentley Continental GT tomorrrow.

Now, what do I sell my SL600 for with less than 1500 miles.

This is what I have into it.

MSRP $145,750
Extras $ 14,063
Total Mess is: $159,813 excluding tax obviously which puts me over $170,000.

OK, so who has any idea of what this car is worth?

Here's what I'm afraid of:

Headline and excerpt from San Francisco major newspaper

LOCAL MAN ENDS UP IN SHADY TREE REST HOME

AFTER GIVING UP ON HIS NEW $147,000.00 MERCEDES SAN FRANCISCO RESIDENT Mr. Hate N Sl BUYS A NEW BENTLEY GT AND RECEIVES A RECALL NOTICE FOR A DEFECTIVE FUEL PUMP. APPARENTLEY THE FUEL PUMP USED ON THE 2006's WERE FROM AN OLD SUPPLY OF 2002 BENTLEY PARTS CAUSING A ROUGH RUNNING ENGINE. AFTER TRYING TO INTERVIEW THE MAN AT SHADY TREE, HE WAS ONLY ABLE TO MUMBLE SOMETHING ABOUT SOME SORT OF MERCEDES WEB SITE BEFORE HE HAD TO BE SEDATED...

When do the 06 GT's come out? The 05's haven't been out for long. They didn't mention the convertible launch date did they? I keep hearing "were not sure" from my dealer. Since you are an interior nut, you will have fun choosing the Bentleys. Make sure you get the diamond quilted seats! You can go on the Bentley website and "build your own". The color options are vast. Did you end up driving one?

My friend just traded his Bentley GT in on a 05 Sl55. He missed having the droptop. The Bentley was on the used car lot for a whopping 10 minutes!

I didnt think you were serious about dumping your car or Id have suggested you buy my friends car.

You will love the GT it is one hell of a car! Congrats!

Yes, I drove one. These are the colors I chose.

Exterior color: Dark Sapphire
Main Hide: Ochre
Secondary Hide: Nautic Blue
Wood Veneer: Birds Eye Maple
Seat belts: Ochre
Carpet: Nautic Blue
Headliner: Ochre
Outer Console: Nautic Blue
Front Facia: Ochre

As you can see this is a huge departure from my SL color scheme.

Will have to think long and hard about these colors but this is what is on the table for now.

The 2006's come out in late September/early October. Not sure about the convertible but I think it is later that year. Didn't care because I don't want a soft top.

Thanks.

You can do it, just wait a little longer and your SL will be back to new again with new parts. I know your hurdle looks like a big mountain, but once you get over it, you will be loving your SL.

Lovin: The best price I could find for my Sl600, 04 was $105K wholsale. This was the best price in all of Florida for a car with 2000 miles on it. The MSRP was about 135K. I decided to keep it. The car was just to good overall to give up that amount of $. Oh, I was trading it in on a 04 Sl65. Glad I doid not do the deal as it would have been a costly mistake. The SL65 is going to take a huge hit once it is out of the showroom. The whole experiance might have cost me$120K in less than 2 years should I have decided to get rid of the SL65.

SL vs Bentley GT

I purchased one of first '03 Bentley GT's last June. Silver - Saddle interior. The car is fabulous- The power blows you away. Yet a great luxury ride. It turns more heads than any other bar I've owned. But I kept my '03 500 Sl because I love a convertible in the summer. I'm on the wait list for the Bentley Convertible but I'm not sure it will have the classical look of the coupe.

You mean 04 I assume since that was the first year of the GT.

You never look back. When you lost confidence in the brand you move on.

A lot of money because they come with the car.

Now there is an idea? I can sell the individual parts on the car and see if I can get more. Anyone need a new engine?

Seriously, I have the old solid red ones if anyone needs a replacement.

For the tail lights, engine and an all inclusive package see:

Ohhh...how stupid of me.

The tail lights are $306 each. That is the retail price. Maybe you can get a discount. It takes about 1.5 hours to install them so you have to add that.

All in including tax is usually under $1,000.

Good luck.

If you know someone with a wholesale account the cost on the lights would be about $257 each.

Fascinating … Having a deposit on a Flying Spur, I’ve been fooling around with the Continental GT configurator (figuring the color choices would be the same) and have been leaning toward exactly the same exterior paint, primary and secondary hide colors. Hadn’t considered the maple though.

I think the Flying Spur is interesting, a better balanced design than the GT but it depends on whether you're looking for a sedan. Interesting to see the much greater level of colour choice than we're used to here for the interior.
