ECO mode default setting
I currently have a 2013 SL on order and have a question. I am aware that the ECO mode setting can be switched on the console to disable the automatic engine shut-off on the 2013 SL.
But every time you start the engine it resets to the default which means the ECO mode is on and then you have to turn it off again. I like the potential fuel savings, but there are certain driving periods where I would just as soon have the car stay in the ECO-off mode.
For those of you who already have your 2013 SL, I am wondering if you could look closely in the owners manual to see if there is a way to change the default setting so that the car is in the ECO-disabled mode when the engine is started.
Any help on this?
Thanks,
Mark

I can't find anything in the manual about changing the default setting of the econ mode. You might want to check with the dealer when you take delivery. However, I have about 1200 miles on my 2013 SL now and have to say I kind of like it. Once you learn to not rush to go from foot on break to foot on gas you don't even notice the engine starting and stopping.
Also, I average about 21MPG in the city and about 27 on the highway so I certainly can't gripe about the mileage I am getting.

Wow. That is excellent gas mileage.
Yes, I figured there would not be a way to override the ECO settings. Probably had to convince the EPA that the gas mileage levels was a known quantity.
Thanks for your reply.
