Brake Pedal Sticks?

My SL has had a strange problem since the day I picked it up.

The brake pedal seems to bind or stick in the first 1/2 inch of travel just as you step on it. It happens when you have not stepped on the brake for a while, either when you first start the car or after driving a few minutes without using the brake.

It is almost like it happens when the brake booster is at max pressure (vacuum?) and when it has less pressure it is does not seem to stick. And then when it is at full boost again it feels like it sticks.

Dealer says this is normal. Do any of you feel this quirky brake pedal behavior in your car?

Thanks

Can't say I notice anything exactly as you describe, however there is something going on when I back out of my garage and hold the brake while creeping onto the driveway, definitely different than my E550. The pedal feels very high and tight, more so than while cruising up to a stop light in slow deceleration. I'm sure the brake system is complex like everything else on these cars and who knows what's really going on.

2012 c class 300
brake pedal sticks first inch of travel

I have the exact same problem with my 2012 c300,
Went to 4 different Mercedes dealer service dept. and no one would do anything or replaced anything because that would admit there was a problem with the brake system and they would have to change every part untill they found the defective part.
Yes they check the system but that as far as they went, I wrote many emails all the way up to head office, NO ONE CARES, in the end I wrote a finale, you lost me as customer letter.
Listen I still have the car but I am planning on trading it in and never stepping in a Mercedes dealer or buying one of there cars again. I suggest if you want to keep the car then start replacing every part on the braking system. I have lost respect and sleep over this issue and money when I trade the car in but then I won't feel that sticking or binding brake pedal anymore.
GOOD LUCK

No problem at all. I do have the sport wheel package which comes with larger front brakes. I don't know if that is the same as you. People have reported squeaky brakes with the non-sport wheel package and have found a solution at the Mercedes dealer. But a sticky brake pedal? Nope!

Please keep us informed of any changes or solutions.

have a very subtle, but similar issues in my 2k14 E550 ... doesn't bother me enough to bring it up, but I can understand your frustration. Seems like it's something that many Mb's demonstrate, most probably don't even notice, and of the ones that do, fewer actually report it to the dealer or post about it online. Like i said, i can understand the frustration

funny how these problems are across the lineup .. makes me think that many of us just don't notice these things, and us more perceptive/critical owners pick up on everything.. oh well

THis cannot be correct,I admit it may be normal for this to happen, but hey its so dangerous.I suspect something expanding in or around the servo,or valve??

I have the same issue on my brand new C200. Went to the dealership who thought nothing was wrong. They were kind enough to let me try one of their C class demo cars and I noticed the brake on that car showed the same behaviour...
The issue seems to be present when the brake booster is at full vacuum; after idling or after driving with low/no throttle without braking for a while (on gasoline cars the brake boosters vacuum is ’supplied’ from the air intake manifold). As long as there´s some pressure left on the ´pressure side´ of the brake booster, the pedal feels smooth. At least that my theory ...

My old 2008 C180 allways felt smooth and so do many other (cheaper) cars.

Brake performane is fine and I´m quite confident there are no functional issues. But from NVH point of view I considder this as a shortcomming. Not what I`d expect from my favourite brand.
