2013 SL550 Muffler Delete
After spending hours researching the different exhausts, I just couldn't see myself spening those prices for a full catback. I went to a local shop PowerHaus Performance and had a muffler delete done. High quality welds, even custom formed a plate for where the exhaust meets the bumper (like oem) and all for a fraction of the cost! Sounds amazing

How does it sound on a long cruise. I love the raspy sound when tooling around town and romping on a country drive, but one of the reasons I bought the SL over a 911 was the ability to take a long comfortable drive without fatigue. Does it still do that well?
Thanks.
Thanks.

Thanks, I had a 335i as well so I can relate to your comparison. Sounds like a good option.

2013 SL550 and 1973 Pantera L
I recently installed the Meisterschaft cat-back system, I just completed a 2400 mile road trip. No "noise induced" fatigue, or even head aches over the 3 day trip. The Meisterschaft 3" pipes give a bass rumble as I pass cars. otherwise it's just a nice quiet background growl.
Quite relaxing to me. At idle, it produces a 71 db sound level, at 32" from the exhaust tip. Which contrasts nicely to my '73 Pantera with it's 91 db idle.

Please post more videos, highway cruising or full throttle windows down.
Does the sound quiet down in high revs, droning not an issue at all?

I prefer the cutouts placed between the resonator and the rear muffler. Open, you get that deep throaty sound but closed on a freeway during a long trip, I don't want the constant drone. Closed you get a stock sound. Each to their own but I find it gives you more control in whatever mood you're in.

Ok, I found this one. However, my vehicle created a "stalling" sensation and I was forced to seek help from 10 different mechanics until I found one with good common sense.
Immediately, he stated the transmission is slipping, can be due to several factors. Well this factor was it was low on fluid. The dealership I purchased the vehicle from did not have the common sense to check ALL fluid levels.
This requires the vehicle being lifted, the removal of the trans plug, manually checking the level, adding fluid and keep testing the level at the lower plug.
My point is, on this video, you will hear the "lag" on aggressive acceleration from a stand still position. That was the primary reason I added the SprintBooster. As this is the answer to that pause in acceleration in many vehicles.
That obviously was not my issue, it was due to low Trans fluid. Runs fine now.
So the enclosed video, this was prior to me resolving the "lag" upon hard acceleration, however, you can get a fraction of what the car sounds like now with the mufflers removed.
After the pause, you may be able to tell the sound enhancement.

Good Luck!

Alfie, I do not have a recording of the cabin sound. However, I wanted to know the sound as well as I proceeded. The first two I removed were the two larger oval shapes as shown in the photo. Drove for a week, decided I did want a little more, then removed the two torpedo exhaust as shown in the second photo. The third photo shows completion. The sound is not at all what you are thinking, It sounds good and beefy, as I desired. Good Luck.

Thank you so much... But still too scared to commit without hearing one. I am afraid is going be too loud, my neighbor two houses down has a Maserati Gran Turismo that has removed everything, and the sound is unbearable (at least for me).

Do what I did Alfie, Remove the larger oval mufflers first, drive it, see if you like the sound. I also had someone else drive it while I listened to him floor it. After 1 week, I removed the other set of torpedo mufflers and then again, listened from the rear of the vehicle. Exactly the sound I want. Remember, it is not that loud until you step on it Alfie (with both sets removed, inside or outside). Make sure you bring it to a reputable exhaust facility so they will replace the old with 2 inch WELDED custom fit stainless steel pipes as shown in my photos.
Driving down your street slowly accelerating will NOT be offensive to neighbors at all.

the two tiny oval parts are the resonators.
this car comes with 2 resonators (ovals up front)
H pipe
2 mid mufflers & 2 rear mufflers for a total of 4 mufflers.
That being said i went with a custom exhaust from a company in germany.
here are my videos. what they send you replaces your h pipe with straight pipes, delete mid mufflers and at the very back 2 new mufflers of their own.
One must listen to these videos with a device with good speakers or good headphones withh bass to really understand how the sound is.
