SL/R231: Trunk Lid

Trunk Lid
There are two push buttons on the trunk lid of my 2013 SL 550 that are viewable when it is raised. One is to close the lid. The other is to close and lock. Shouldn't these buttons light up when the hood lid is open? Mine do not light.
Also, shouldn't the key fob close the lid? Mine does not.

My two buttons do light up. The light is soft but they are definitely illuminated. And no my key fob also does not close the trunk lid. However you can close the trunk lid from the same lever on the driver's door that opens the trunk. That's a nice feature.

If you don't want to use the buttons on the trunk lid to close it you can always use the foot feature, it opens and closes the trunk as well.

The foot feature works 100% for me once I learned the correct/best way to do it. It's a straight in-and-out motion, not left-and-right, and a steady speed. I think the instructions in the owner's manual also helped (I didn't read them at first, as usual).

No issues here either - in and out under the car, not across. But isn't that the trick to most technology? Understanding how it works? Then you don't have a pre-ordained expectation that doesn't match up to reality.
