650 convertible vs sl

Been a sl owner for years with lease termination on my 2013 maturing.
Need thoughts on bmw 650 convertible as new alternative. Test drove one and was impressed with tech, comfort and sound system.
In addition. 2016.model year supposedly without new changes.
Thoughts????

I looked at that one as well. My problem is the cloth top. I've had cloth tops and now two (2) hard top convertibles and I really like the insulation when the top is solid. Having said that, my hard top before this 550 was a 335i and there are definitely some tech advantages to the BMW's. Either is a great choice, but for me the hard top is just better as a daily driver.

Hard beats cloth all day long - I came out of my 2nd 650 in 2013 and I'll not go back for that reason alone.

The SL is a much better convertible than the 650 (or the prior SL for that matter).
I am eager to see better tech in the SL (like the S-Class) but I am also considering that this is a roadster.

Love the interior (if nappa), the car's performance (beats our last SL600TT).
For me, ABC and Nappa is a must.

I like the hard top big time but because of weight I am seeing reports of hard tops moving to soft tops. Articles on the next gen SL & the next gen Ferrari Cali both considering eliminating the hard top or at least making it a special order.

Next SL will move to soft-top (MY2021), partly due to weight but also due to making the SL more of a true roadster again.

Personally, the current SL is quite agile (with ABC), powerful and you can't beat a hardtop with Magic Sky

This is a full 4 season car where we live...

To me the current 650i felt too heavy when I test drove it. We had the prior 650i (2008) for almost 5 years and that was a great car. If I had the garage space I would still own it.
