Way too much!! What do you think?
So I believe my Dealer playing games again..As some of you know, Have a very strong interest in getting the SL550 2017, just been waiting for confirmation of approx. delivery dates which we now have. This is what I received from the dealer. it's not all roses out here even for affluent Naples but when they want to screw me, I get mad but needed your confirmation.
You would have thought that they would throw in the tires knowing that I don't want run flats but want my own put on and are they simply going to sell brand new tires that came with the car to someone else? Car is at 37 thousand miles 2013 and fully loaded. $43,000 seems low and as for their radar installation charges!!!!! Doc Fees outrageous...............
Cannot stand the ethics of these people..when I went there to have my car checked over..saw the Men in suits, sitting in their glass prisons and not one of these head honchos could be bothered to come over and say hello..and we could make a deal face to face.......
Appreciate your comments....all of them please......as now thinking of perhaps going over to Germany when I am in the UK, getting a 10% discount, hopefully having the tires I want, having some fun on the Autobahn and arranging shipment myself. Or simply waiting a year or so and trying to get a new one with the specs I need at a much better price...
confused now....................
Below the MSRP includes the options
MSRP 119,965.00
Mount 4 customer provided tires 200.00
Remove and install customer provided radar system 600.00
Total Purchase 120,765.00
Trade Allowance 43,000.00
Trade Payoff
Trade Difference 77,765.00
Taxable Fees (Estimated) 26.00
Doc Fee 599.50
Taxes 4,703.43
Title & License 206.50
Net Price 83,300.43
Balance 83,300.43

trade allowance is very low but typical of a dealer, but very negotiable
tires/radar fees are negotiable, typically waived if dealer wants to sell a car
lack of dealer interest in negotiating probably due to new '17's coming out, you would be much better off waiting a year IMO

Who cares for msrp. You are not getting anything off? I would expect $5k-$10k min.
$43k Trade-in is a joke. I leased our car but the dealer decided to buy it from MB Financial and sold it in a week for $68k. 2013 ($125k list); forgot the mileage but it was around 25k..
Just looked and Edmunds shows my trade-in at $59k.
From what I have been reading from you about your dealer has been less than impressive. Start shopping!

If it were me. I would DEFINITELY wait at least six months until the craziness over the new model dies down. Then, I would expect at least a 10% discount from MSRP. Now, that said, it REALLY helps if you have a relationship with a reputable dealer and it helps even more if you have an ongoing relationship with the GM, the sales manager or at least a sales person who has been there a while.
I live close to Fletcher Jones, the largest MB dealer in the country, but I drive 45 minutes to MB of Foothill Ranch, because IMO, FJ is a frigging CESSPOOL of unethical and underhanded business practices. The folks at Foothill treat me with respect and they know the type of deal it takes to get my business. I don't have to start all over again, each time we get a new car and they know I'll be back. I can't stress how beneficial such a relationship is, at least to me.
Good luck.

That's where I brt my 2013 from after once again Naples was on another planet..so that's exactly what I was thinking of doing but now seriously considering waiting..............also the last time, the salesman ordered the wrong color from Ft Myers..............he did make it up to me though by getting 10K off...........they needed to have a sale on the books by the end of March. Delivery was May. Naples just don't seem to need the money but its convenient for me re the servicing and car loaners......and in that Dept. I have built up an excellent rapport...........
we shall see.................
we shall see.................

With the internet and ability to easily ship vehicles across country, there's simply no reason to do business with a dealership that isn't doing its best to give you a good customer experience.
AND wait six months.

I liked your comment about suits sitting around....
I purchased a 2014 at Mercedes of Miami. I've never seen so many "suits" walking around and handing me their business card with the proverbial.....if I can help let me know.....3 days later, with at least 1 more trip to Miami forthcoming I will be very happy to see MB in my rear view mirror.
The car is exactly what I wanted and the offer (with trade) was a bit better than I expected based on other offers for similar cars. Somebody is paying for all those "suits", and free hot chocolate! That part is expected. What isn't expected is the laughable process of actually getting what I was promised. Nothing more, nothing less.
It seems that they spend more time trying to ensure that you will rate them a 10 instead of earning it. BTW I don't do customer service surveys. They are not constructive, they are punitive.

Tell them to forget the DOC Fee of $599.50. It's just an added profit generator for them because they cannot legally sell you a vehicle without documentation.

Well, not quite. Foothill is a partnership between the GM of MBLN and the owner of MBLN. I started as a customer of MBLN, but moved my business to Foothill when one of the senior sales managers at MBLN went to Foothill to become the GM. Both are great dealerships, especially if compared to Fletcher Jones.

Shop the internet. I did business over the phone first then drove to Tulsa MB dealer and was very happy with deal and personnel. The DOC Fee is a joke and never will pay it. I suggest you shop around and do business with those who are willing to earn it. I too like the "suits" comment.

Sorry to resurrect an older thread, but this past Monday, I ordered a 2017 SL450, and wanted to share with you how I went about getting, what I thought was, a fairly good deal. I built the exact car that I was interested in on the MB web site, and printed out four copies of the build sheet, which showed exactly what the car would be, including all options that I was interested in. The build sheet showed an MSRP of $97,075.
I then called four MB dealers, two here in Connecticut, one of which I bought my previous 4 MB's from, and the other where I had an "A" service done, and two dealers, both in New York State. One of them was where I had bought my wife's GLK, a year ago, and the other was a dealership, whom I'd never heard of, and didn't even know the town in which it was located.
During each call, I explained that I'd like to send them, via email, a copy of my build sheet and that I'd like them to email me back, within a few days, their lowest and best price on the build sheet that I provided. I explained that I wasn't really interested in negotiating, and that I was going to buy the car from the dealer who gave me the lowest price. I explained that I wasn't going to go back and ask them to lower or eliminate any of their charges, and that the lowest gross price would prevail.
Two days later I had four differing quotes: the high was $93,844, both dealers in Connecticut gave me the exact same quote, at $92,075, and the lowest price, and the one I went with was $90,850.
I've usually used the USAA Car Buying Service, but this time, on a 2017 SL, they were only giving you a $500 discount. All in all, I was very satisfied with the results, and look forward to taking delivery of the car, sometime in mid-March.
For your viewing pleasure, I've attached a few photos of my build. Hope you like them.
