Front camera

Does anyone know of a quality camera for the front of the R231, to avoid spoiler rash from concrete parking blocks?

Does anyone have experience with Mid-City Engineering in Chicago? Good or bad to deal with?

On my 2008 I learned to stop about 2 feet before I thought I would hit the parking stops and found I was usually about 1 foot off. All that training has kept the 2017 from any bottom rash so far. Our weekend house in the historic part of Galveston, Texas has huge dips from the street to the driveway and I have to place two 2"X 12" boards in the gutter to drive over and even with them have to creep up the driveway as not to scrape the front bottom of the car.
Sorry. Cannot help with the camera idea...

I've had excellent assistance from them. Installers in my area are the concern. I've a vim module with front and rear cameras and my only problem is the parking grid in the display is not to my liking. It seems to be the cameras installed not the module. Installer can't explain, checking with Mercedes to see if the command system offers any adjustments to the view. No reply from them ...yet.

I sure wish the SL had the feature that allows the driver to raise the car, like on my 2015 S550. Whenever I am pulling into a parking space with a bumper, or entering a really steep driveway, I just hit the button and Im clear. Porsche has the feature as optional, but it's like a $2,500.00 option--but I'd still order it, as it just makes things so much easier.

It does have the feature when you get ABC on the SL...

I don't recall the feature on my 2004 SL with ABC. Was it offered on the R230 or is this something new?

Yes, raising car a bit by pressing a button is and always was part of ABC (as is with Airmatic of S, CLS, etc). The difference now is that ABC was standard on R230, but a $4K option on R231. Of course R231 without ABC handles at least as well as R230 with ABC.

Going back to this thread's topic, factory like quality front camera with full integration is available from Renntech (I think must be installed only at their FL facility):

Does Renntech ever designate local shops to do installations like this front-end camera?

Yes. As threeMBs correctly stated. Here is a pic of our old SL...
