SL/R231: SL550 (R231) buying questions

SL550 (R231) buying questions
First of all, let me introduce myself. My name is Andre, 58 years young, and together with my wife I live on Sint Maarten in the Caribbean from august 2015. Today I subscribed to this forum. Our plan is to stay here 3-5 years. I was the proud owner of a SL500 2002 (R230) in the Netherlands, but sold it, because we thought, and still think its not the right car on our island. Next year we have to take some decisions cars related. On my mind now is to buy a R231 SL550 in Canada or the States and bring it to Holland again. Main reason: this type of car is less expensive here.
I have tried to collect some information about prices and taxes. I don't get a good idea of the taxes I have to pay in both Countries. Another question is, that I'm thinking about driving a bought car myself from the place I bought it to Miami to be shipped to Sint Maarten. Is that possible as well?
It would be fine reading some answers on my question.
