My right front turn signal integrated in the top of the headlight cover went out after visiting a car wash. Anyone else have this problem? Before I tear into pulling it out...was wondering if anyone has any tips?

I know this is a bit old, but what did you do to remedy this? Having the same problem....

 

The same thing

The same thing just happened to my 2017 SL550 after a car wash visit this morning. The only remedy appears to be $2,440.00 for the part (231-906-81-00) and $689.85 labor at my MB dealership (total of $3,129.85 plus tax). I can buy the new MB OEM part online at eBay for $1,426.77 delivered. I am asking the MB dealership if they will match the online price for the part and I pay the full labor price to install it. If they agree, it will bring the cost of the total job down to $2,116.62. Still pretty painful but hopefully I will save a grand.

 

This is definitely one of the more common issues plaguing the R231 (and other models too).

This is more geared to the DIY’er but, the facelift cars have a seal that can be replaced. The earlier cars were sealed units.
MB part numbers 231-826-01-00 & 231-826-02-00
Sometimes when you let the headlight dry out thoroughly, the turn signals can “come back”, and sometimes they don’t 😕
