Decided to not have SL sit in the garage for 5 months, so we finally put the snows on the car. Pirelli Sottozero staggered
With ML (aka "snow" car) and S, you drive SL in snow? Not only I do not drive it in rain, I do not drive it even if there's forecast of at least 20% chance of rain.

They are just cars They are build for rain and bad weather; plenty of that in Germany.
Seriously though, we used to always keep the SL in the garage during winter but they are just too much fun to drive.
My wife likes to drive the SL and doesn't like SUV's. We have that one strictly for errands and transporting bulky stuff. The car is 2 1/2 years old with less than 12k miles on it
The S-Class is also the winter car with 4-matic, so I drive that one primarily.
Not driving the SUV I understand but why in the world would you get a nice convertible and not drive it? 1600 miles is nothing!
Sorry, but not driving SUV in snow, is what I do not get. When I had MLs, I drove them exclusively in snow/rain "up there" and rain "down here". I would be extremely uncomfortable in SL in any adverse conditions - a. car will not stay new as long as possible (I do not lease) and while I do change cars relatively often, SL is not one of them - I keep it for 10 year or so ('03 SL I had for 11 years and traded it for this '15 with only 4K miles, it was mint), b. its other drivers I worry about - luck of proper tires ("snow" for snow and newer deeper grooved tires for rain) and their general ability to drive especially in bad weather conditions.

IMO cars are there to be driven. Exceptions would be some classic and collectors cars. The cars I enjoy driving are the cars that get used the most. Weather plays a lesser role.
The most dangerous thing in traffic are other drivers, no matter what. That's why I want to sit in the safest one
With the rapid change of tech my thinking of buying versus leasing has fundamentally changed. We used to buy cars outright and kept them for a while. But even that made no financial sense the more expensive the cars got. Depreciation still got the better of them.
Since safety systems, overall tech improves so rapidly, I prefer keeping cars only 2-3 years now.
On another note, if you drive your SL so littler, what is your daily driver?
