Recent purchase of new 2015 SL400. Is there any way to re-set the computer so the seat buttons are tap instead of push and hold?
Thanks for any suggestions
Nope. Germans view that as a security/accident risk as you could press them while driving and crash the car if a setting (for a smaller person for example) would inhibit you from steering/braking, etc.

That's what the dealer told me at the delivery. I was hoping there was a work around. How difficult would it have been for them to stop the tap feature once the car was moving. Not too bright!

Actually, the German mindset is opposite. The tab function makes zero sense because you create a risk scenario and complexity for a near zero benefit (holding the button for a few seconds).
Risk - Take a couple; 6'3" guy and a 5'2" wife. Pressing the wrong button can crush the guy.
Complexity - You can add sensors to the seat that could recognize obstacles. Will work fine but adds costs and another potential of maintenance/failure.
Plus a sensor to recognize if the car is in drive...
