2020 S560 Sedan, 2019 SL450, 2019 E450 Luxury Trim Wagon, '24 BMW I7 on order...
My SL450 was released by DOT, then Mercedes put a hold on it (them) for a Part, which I am told has to be remanufactured.
Car has been in Baltimore since the end of July -
As of now, no date for shipping to dealer !
Hope they put a set of Winter tires with it, when it arrives !
Mercedes Slogan - "The Best or NOTHING"
Right now - NOTHING !
P.S. Car was ordered in May, Built in June, arrived in Baltimore in late July -

If this an additional car for you, as many SL's are, and not a car you need, when the car finally comes in, I would, at the very least, just tell the dealer that you have missed the entire summer season, that you have lost interest and that the only thing that might change your mind is an additional, substantial discount. Tell them you found a new Porsche in stock somewhere and that you are going for that instead. MBUSA has special funds that they have available for situations like this. I wouldn't be surprised if you got another $5K off of whatever deal you had previously. Good luck to you!
I am sure they would offer further discount but $5k? I would sooner just order a new 2018 model at that point. Why would you want to pick up a brand new 2017 model in either late 2017 or even possibly early 2018. Just doesn't make sense. $5k would be a joke at this point. That car is basically a year old by the time you can enjoy it next year. Try $25k to start, that's where I would be otherwise order me a brand new 2018 model that wont be a year old by the time I drive it.

True Wolfman, and I was happy to get a copy! Still feel like the DOG should be accurate though, if not for customers, for the dealer reps. As you have previously noted, there is already a general lacking of knowledge amongst some of the dealer reps.

Streamliner is right. A proper discount should be easily negotiated.
Our MY17 was ordered in early 16 and delivered in August 16 and that was the launch year of the facelift!
Wasn't too happy about that delay which should have arrived in July.
Your delay on a MY18 (which are typically available in July of the prior year) wouldn't be acceptable, especially since there were no changes for the model year.

My order status went to "B1" last Wednesday on Sept. 27. My order status changed to "Yellow" yesterday on Oct. 3, according to my SA. Does this all sound about right?

Seems that MB USA is not as good as MB Germany. My car was delivered a month early which really suited me but, they'd have kept it under cover for me if I insisted on the agreed delivery date.

World of difference. German customers can now follow their car through the actual manufacturing process and much more feedback. That said, they also have inferior warranty to what US customers cam enjoy.

This shows some of my order. I know that B3 means no changes can be made or red status. I was told that X-10 PROD means 10 days to production. If true, that would not jive with the estimated production date shown, decade planned or decade scheduled. Can anyone please explain??? Thanks in advance!

All pre-production status codes are general guidelines and not carved in stone in terms of production dates. Your scheduled production date will be the most accurate one. The biggest impact to production dates are inventory or revision-based, not capacity based. This means the delivery of the specific components for your car to the floor from the vendor. Many are color or option specific and they are likely delivered only on the day your car is build. Sometimes a production date is slowed if a component is being revised to allow for the new part to make it into your car. Either way, it looks like a December delivery

I don't take my SL out all that often, but the August weather here along the coast in Southern California has been nothing short of spectacular, with sunny skies and temps in the low to mid 70's, with very low humidity. So, I've been enjoying the SL, even without ABC. The car is an amazing vehicle and the ride is great, only really noticing the lack of ABC over bumps and rougher roads, neither of which are plentiful in this part of the world. However, I am putting on a full court press trying to get MB to build me a 2018, with ABC, in Mars Red. I like the face lift exterior better than my 2013, but the only real reason I want a new one, is to get ABC. I had it on my 2004 and the difference between the two is pretty dramatic, IF you value a smooth ride and amazing handling. All that said, the SL without ABC is still a wonderful car and I'm sure the OP will be quite happy with his new ride and I wish him nothing but the best, for many years of enjoying his new SL.

She's been stuck on B7 (ready to ship - NO assignment) since Nov. 15th! During this time of the year, is this to be expected?

updating is not always prompt !
Like you, I was checking to see its status, and for a while it never changed - then all of a sudden its on a ship and I track the ship to see its on its way to Baltimore !
Once in Baltimore I thought it would be at the dealer within a week - not to happen ! 3.5 months later it finally got to the dealer and I got it - So much for ordering a
car in May for use during the summer, only now to have it here in Cold weather.
I just hope once it does get to Baltimore or to the designated Vehicle Prep. Center , that its sent to you quickly -
Its worth the wait - but I feel for you - !

I ordered my 2018 SL in late May, was told it would be built in Mid June, turned out it was finally finished on June 27 -

I don't believe anyone on this forum can answer your question. We are consumer end users and only those who work at Mercedes in production and shipping could give you a guess. Ships make many ports of call and I doubt anything produced in Europe goes directly from one port to another without stops to load and unload more product. Also, what is listed on the Internet may not be in real time. Sorry I cannot give the answer you want to hear!
