SL63 Mods Update

I'm working toward getting max sound and max performance from my lil red car; finding skilled and available vendors has been the hardest part so far. But here's where I am after a couple months now of owning it...

The biggest improvements have been replacing the subs in the footwells with more powerful JL's, the sound is incredible now from them; Performance wise the ECU and Cold Air intake have made performance meaningfully better, especially after I replaced the spark plugs with cold ones. The tires break loose now on a moderate launch and never did that before. I couldnt get a feel for the right launch at the dragstrip because tire spin simply wasn't an issue before these mods, but I'll practice and get better at it. I'm told these catless downpipes will make the car sound much better (I was fine with the current sound), but will also noticibly improve performance. There's a 1/2 mile dragstrip event this weekend so I'll see how it goes there after these pipes are in.

I see you have the UPD air intake mod. What do you think? I run it on the R231 with K &N and the Weistec tune. Seems like a good upgrade.

I was lucky enough to have my car dyno'ed without it, and then with it moments later by a nice guy who took it off his E63 who happened to be getting dyno'ed at the same time; he put his on mine to see what performance if any was available. There was 50ftlb more of torque so it was a no brainer purchase. Also I then got the car retuned after installing it along with colder plugs and it absolutely pulls harder.

Thanks! I thought so. I do not have the same hp or torque but the enlarged air box and the new filter placement really helps. I will eventually go one step colder on the plugs. Great info. Your car is now the TRQV8DR!

Looks good! Which sound system are you replacing the speakers on, HK or BO? did you throw any codes changing them out? Is it quite a difference? I like the way my HK sounds but im sure it could sound better. Any special reason you went with JL audio?

On another note, which tune are you running? What were your stock dyno numbers and do you have the performance package? Keep up the good work.

Wink

Call me "faint of heart", but if I needed a hammer like that one to change out my speakers...I'd forget the whole thing!

JMCD33, Can you get a hold of me? I am trying to do the same thing and was wondering if you might have time for a quick call.
