DIY Oil Change

Just changed the oil in my 2013 SL550 with a MItyvac 7400. It was a very easy process. Got the oil (8 qts) and filter at the MB dealer ($95) and did it in the garage. Took me about one hour since I had not done it on this car before and I was in no hurry anyway. The oil filter being on top makes it very doable. Next time I'll get the oil from Walmart and save about $20. I saw 5-qt jugs of the correct Mobil 1 for about $25 today. I'm undecided where I'll get the filter. Want to make sure that it is a high quality product since it's in for a year.

This an easy task and it feels good to do something nice for the car other than paying someone else to do it. I also like knowing exactly what went into the car.

The hardest part is cleaning the pump's two hoses without making a mess. I use a cheap carburetor cleaner from an auto parts store and squirt it down the hose.
