Unsnap the plastic cowling and intake hoses off the top of the engine. Use the correct sized torx bit and loosen the screws from the top of the collection boxes. Lift tops off, remove old filters and place new filters in. Reverse process to screw and snap everything back into place. Five minute process once you get the hang of the procedure.
I open up my collection boxes twice a year and vacuum out all the leaves/ dead insects and debris. I drive a lot of back country roads and am surprised at how much debris gets collected at the filter intake.

Do not use K&N filters in these cars the oil can foul the MAF sensor and cause driving problems - use AFE (part number 31-10223) or Weistec (Weistec may just be marked-up AFE filters in all honesty).

It appears K&N debunked this "myth" about their filters many years ago through some pretty thorough testing. Here's a link to their info: https://www.knfilters.com/maf/massair.htm
If a dealer claims your MAF was damaged by their filter, contact K&N. They will back you up.

I always use OEM air filters on all my engines. Companies spend millions of dollars engineering and designing engines and I have a hard time believing air filter design is left out of the process.
