I have a 2017 C300 Cabriolet with designo Bengal Red Napa leather. The cost was $3,800. Love the diamond pattern. As we all know, MB used to offer a similar diamond pattern in the SL65. Now, all that is available in the disigno line for all SL's is the linear pattern AND you have to pay $4,500 for it (Classic Red/Black Exclusive Napa Leather). Really!!! $700 more for "Exclusive Napa Leather" AND you only get the front seats where in the C300 you get front and back seats. Please tell me I'm missing something here. Can it be that "Exclusive Napa Leather" is so much better than "Napa Leather" that it warrants a higher price or is it just MB taking advantage of a more exclusive car to wring more dollars?
First of all, the SL is a 2-seater. Second of all, the exclusive Nappa leather is better looking and higher quality. Ofc it'll cost more for a more high-end car, but it's up to you if you want to option it or not. I've got the non-designo Nappa leather and it makes the interior look a lot better.
With "exclusive" SL also includes alcatara headliner - a $1,100 stand alone option on prior years SLs. A completely different level of luxury compared to "standard".

I don't know if they are included in the C300 interior the OP mentions, but the Exclusive Nappa in the SL includes leather door panels and a leather dash, which gives the interior a truly rich look. The Exclusive Nappa interiors are really in Bentley territory.

Exclusive Nappa is a better leather and the Alcantara headliner as was already mentioned. More important, all other surfaces are covered in leather as well. Dashboard, all door panels, rear panels, center console and lower dash and console as well.
C & E class is somewhat crap compared to the SL are there are still lots of small plastic bits showing through. Zero MBTex in the car.
Not sure why you are using past tense but MB still offers the diamond pattern in other car models (like S-Class exclusive Nappa) but never offered the diamond pattern in the SL except the SL65's.

SL63AMG with High Contrast Styling package/edition (similar to EU's 2look) at least on 2015 and 2016 (do not remember later years) was also offered with identical diamond pattern as SL65 (only black/white).

True, I was excluding special editions. Same for the upcoming Grand Edition
