Customizing your SL

Hi all. First time MB owner here. I just bought a 2015 SL400 and so far am loving it! I sold my Nissan 350Z Anniversary Edition with custom motor 2 years ago and since then have had a Camaro, an Infinity G37 IPL, and a Jaguar F-Type. None replaced the love I had for my Z until now. I was warned by many that in subtropical Naples, FL I would not drop the top much but I'm happy to find that after owning it for 2 weeks I've dropped it every day
So loving the drop top (someone called it a Transformer today), the luxury ride and the beautiful interior (mine is a rich brown leather & black trim), but I felt the exterior needed a few changes. Here's the before with silver 19in wheels and after with 20in black wheels and a spoiler. Wish I could find long wheel bolt covers but I've only found rubber caps. Please reply with modifications you've done

Stock 19in silver wheels

New 20in black wheels

First of all, welcome to the R231 group and congratulations on your move to MB. All of our cars must appeal to one person and one person only: the owner, and possibly, their significant other. What is appealing to one is not to others. I happen to prefer the car on the trailer, but hey, that’s just me. So, enjoy your new car and may you have many thousands of safe, happy miles!

Those black wheels look pretty cool on that black car

I guess I have been watching too many of those car fab/customizing shows on TV lately. I would really like to add a continuation of the chrome bar across the lower grill opening on the front of the car.

Taking that chrome trim that houses the daytime driving lights and stretching that across that lower grill I think it would give the front a lower & wider look, even though it is already pretty wide and low now. A slight recess of the lower grill ( similar to the upper grill +/- 1/2" to 3/4" ) and that chrome bar/trim would look pretty good in my opinion.

Thank you! I really like the spoiler too (not pictured). For me it helped balance the flat back and gave it a bit more curve appeal.

Your ideas sounds interesting. Can't wait to see pictures! I know a lot of people, maybe most, like stock but I like to customize everything to make it unique.

I like your idea, but can’t help but think how much better it would have looked on the 2013-2016 “Non-AMG Sport Pkg.” front end, the one we in the USA were not allowed to order. Thanks MBUSA!
