Road & Track - Long Term Cars

Found this article in the on line version of Road & Track; listing the vehicles that folks tend to keep the longest. #3 on the list? The SL, average ownership of 10+ years. Here's the link: https://www.roadandtrack.com/car-cul...Oe-c4I&slide=3

I'd be interested in maintenance and repair costs for those that keep their cars out of warranty. Anyone know if this data is available online anywhere?

I can only speak for my 2004 SL500. I ordered it new, kept it for 12 years and sold it with only 22,000 miles on it. The ABC pump went out when it was 2 years old and it was replaced under warranty. Never another issue.
I believe that the R231's will be just as reliable, if not more.

This is good and encouraging news. I'm a bit nervous since this is my first Benz and I know repairs and parts are expensive. I extended my CPO warranty so I'm good for 3 years. If no issues I'll consider keeping it beyond 3 years but do plan to trade for a newer car of the same model if my current car proves to be reliable.

I've had my 2005 SL 500 while still in warranty, sold it after 10 years, beside maintenance, absolutely no repairs.

No more MB:(
I plan on keeping my 2015 for the foreseeable future. 35K miles and only one issue, radiator hose came off due to loose clamp. Other than that it's been flawless.
