Road & Track - Long Term Cars
Found this article in the on line version of Road & Track; listing the vehicles that folks tend to keep the longest. #3 on the list? The SL, average ownership of 10+ years. Here's the link: https://www.roadandtrack.com/car-cul...Oe-c4I&slide=3

2020 S560 Sedan, 2019 SL450, 2019 E450 Luxury Trim Wagon, '24 BMW I7 on order...
I can only speak for my 2004 SL500. I ordered it new, kept it for 12 years and sold it with only 22,000 miles on it. The ABC pump went out when it was 2 years old and it was replaced under warranty. Never another issue.
I believe that the R231's will be just as reliable, if not more.

This is good and encouraging news. I'm a bit nervous since this is my first Benz and I know repairs and parts are expensive. I extended my CPO warranty so I'm good for 3 years. If no issues I'll consider keeping it beyond 3 years but do plan to trade for a newer car of the same model if my current car proves to be reliable.
