SL/R231: Wind Noise

Wind Noise
Earlier this year, my wife and I were driving on a desolate country road, and I got my 2015 sl550, R231 up to 145 mph. As we hit that speed there was one heck of a noise, and it seemed to be wind noise origins unknown. Last week my wife and I were driving home from a long road trip, highway speed, and the same wind noise appeared intermittently mostly when we hit a cross wind. However, this time I was able to see the driver side windshield wiper was vibrating and it appears that this is where the noise was coming from. Has anyone else had this problem and if so what is the fix?

Your wife has bigger ***** than mine. 
Mine would have been screaming bloody murder at much over 80. You're a lucky man. Never heard that noise and I've had my car up over 110, but only while solo.

LOL!!! Thanks for the laugh, my wife got a kick out of it too. In all honesty when we get the car going fast, she pretty much sits there motionless looking straight ahead, but she's there. The solidness and responsiveness of the vehicle at that speed is so much better than our Cadillac XLR was at 110, and my wife agrees.

Temporarily tape the wiper blade down with duct tape and then go for a high speed ride. If the noise does not appear at least you will know where the problem lies. Mercedes probably has duct tape in the color of your car for $500 a roll but otherwise any color will do for one quick ride.....
