Press the latch and open the door yourself...that is what I do for my right hand console door not spring open. At some point, I will look into disassembling this and fixing the spring.

I have had that happen on 2 SL’s. Fortunately both fixed under warranty.
Also had to have the Pano roof removed on my ‘2017 for wind noise and rattle at 3k.
For those that say a extended warranty is a waste of money.......well not in my case.

Pull the rear cup holder and the trim panel. You can see the springs that open the console door. Just load the spring (wind it one turn) and put it back on.... Problem solved. Easy fix

Spinalator, disassembled as you said. Found that plastic recepticle for forward end of spring had broken/deteriorated, hence spring had nothing to hold it in place to open door when actvated by latch button. Any one know of a part number to replace this broken area? Thanks. .

Hey Docscout. My quick fix didnt last. The inner spring receptacle broke as yours did so there was nothing holding the spring to provide tension. I re-examined the issue and came up with a fix. The tunnel that held the spring broke. I found a brass tube 1/8 diameter and glued it down with JB Weld where the tunnel was located. You have to take off the console door to do this which is easy by pulling out the hinge pin with a thermostat. aka old roach clip from the 70s 🤣. Glue in the tube, let it sit for 24 hours and put it back together. $5 bucks spent is way better than a $1200 replacement from the dealer

It took me 3 days and numerous visits to the hardware store but I was determined to fix it. If you want more though instructions or photos, let me know. You don't have to remove the console, just the door

Well my "fix" failed again. The epoxy didn't hold the brass tube and it pulled away from the door so the console door is no longer operational. I decided to throw in the towel and I found a replacement center console unit on e-bay. I'm just going to take off the broken door and replace it when it arrives. I'm not going to replace the entire console. It will be easier just to replace the one door. I suggest that you do the same. I found one for $175.00 but that is cheap as apposed to purchasing a brand new unit.
