His clips are often interesting, but he's such an odd guy that he's kind of hard to watch for any length of time. I got really involved watching the series that "Tavarish" was doing on his SL55, but he never finished the car...he was going to convert it to a 6-speed manual, but he just dropped it and switched to a burned-out Gallardo instead.

I agree, Doug is an odd duck but he does seem to have an ability to get hold of new cars sooner than a lot of others. That said, he still hasn't been able to get a C8 Corvette to review. I am looking forward to that review.

I find Tavarish to be a bit irritating, his videos are all just ten minute "updates" with no progress. Also, he hasn't finished a project yet, but for some reason he's got fifteen of them.

His video's are a huge waste of time. Hoovies garage is the worst I think.

Oh hell no. Hoovie is the best. He's starting some humanitarian work and just uploaded a video where he went around and gave people money so they would be able to keep their cars.

The fact that he uploaded a video of it (vs just doing it), speaks volumes about motive.

All true. I had high hopes when he started his SL, but it just fizzled out. I haven't watched him since the Gallardo debacle...

Of course, we now know that his prediction was wrong. Apparently, MB believes there's enough of us retiring boomers out there to keep the model going. MB probably makes one of their biggest price margins on the SL, so I doubt they're losing money by continuing to offer it.

The SL is for grown ups. The Porshe 911 doesn't sound good to my ear and the F Type is simply smaller, with a much to small boot (trunk) to travel anywhere far or for too long. Come to think of it, the Porsche's boot is tiny too.

It's unique insofar as the roof is (apart from a Cali T...and I don't want exotic Ferrari servicing costs) The central radio console is a minor matter of taste and the 3 clock make me smile...the designer must have had issues with timekeeping.

And the AMG GT reminded me of the previous BMW 1M and M4...suspension too hard...your fillings fall out.

As for depreciation, that's just part of the game. Negotiate hard and get a good discount...I got 34% of my new one last year. £95,000 list ($130,000 I guess), paid £63,000 ($85,000). That was the limit...and its gets silly when you get more fun out of cutting a deal than the actual car!

It's hard to beat a nice CPO SL as a touring car. I paid less than 50% of MSRP for my SL400 with only 20k miles 2 years ago. No way I'd pay $100k for this car but less than $50k it's a good buy. Much nicer than the C7 Corvette I sold.

Going back to this thread, it's amazing to see how successful a lot of these youtubers have become, despite some of your doubts. Hoovie now has a few Lamborghinis, a Ferrari, and multiple other exotics - just a couple of years ago he was only able to roll around in 90's Mercedes diesels. Now, Doug has a really nice car auction website and his own small car collection.

I really can't wait to see what Doug thinks of the R232, and see Hoovie pick up a clapped-out one in 6 years time/

Hoovie also buys junk cars... no offense but none of his cars work. His Ferrari F355 was a disaster. My 99 F355 had none of those issues his did and mine never caught fire. I would rather own a cheaper fleet of cars that I can use rather than a fleet of exotics that you can pretty much just look at. But whatever that is how he makes a living. More power to him. Nobody doubts them as far as YouTube goes but we will not take everything they say or do as being 100% factual. I take them with a grain of salt no different I would Jermey Clarkson or even James May. It is what makes us different.

He makes his money off of buying junk cars. His Lamborghinis were valued by Ed Bolian to be well over 600k USD in total, so they aren't total junk. I also take his content the same way I take Jezza's, since they both play dumb for the camera. It is really entertaining, however!

Jezza, however, wasn't always a car guy like Hoovie is. It's clear when you watch old Top Gear which felt like he was reading straight off of a script, and in the 2000's Top Gear he'd make tons of mistakes when he wasn't reading off of a script.

I am trying to reset a SRS fault that I caused, I replaced the defrost stepper motor on my 2004 clk320 , I connected the battery to test the new stepper before I put the dashboard back together , I had the airbag disconnected when I was testing the stepper motor so I knew I would get a fault , but I assumed I could reset it when I was finished. When I connect the foxwell 510 elite it tells me there are no stored codes so I have nothing to erase . when I perform a live test it all comes back clear as all the airbags are now connected . I was wondering the the SRS fault could be stored in the instrument cluster as it was disconnected when I was testing the stepper motor , I have scanned all the ecu's and I am not seeing any faults ..Anyone got any idea how to clear the srs dashboard warning when I can find no faults ?
