Check out 'a very special 231' in the link below....This one's a 2016 SL65 model and also a CPO, (MB Certified Pre-Owned). Note that 2018, (post facelift), was the last year for the SL Class V12, and hence also the last year for the SL65 AMG. That said, I happen to think the SL65 looks best in it's original 231 design, (2013-2016), which may contribute to why I find this 2016 model so very attractive...
In this age of Electric Motor assisted cars, I can't imagine MB ever producing another mighty and magnificent V12 for the SL Class anytime in the future.....

In addition to the 'unique'color scheme', several other features make this particular 231 'even more 'RARE'...
- Exterior Color is Designo Mystic Brown - (Never heard of that color before, but looks similar to Dolomite Brown Metallic) - Interior Leather is Designo Sierra Brown Diamond Quilted - (A 'very seldom seen' 231 Interior color, for sure) - Note that the AMG Rear Spoiler has been Deleted on this particular car which for me is a good thing! - The Trim is Burlwood, (including a Burlwood Steering Wheel) - Most have the AMG Sport Wheel and a different trim. - The front and rear Brake Caliper Paint Color matches the Interior and the colored part of the headlights very nicely.
Beyond that, it seems to have every single 231 option available, though most options were made 'standard' on the SL65's.
I'm not in the market for such a car, but for someone 'seeking a very unique and rare 231', this may be 'the one'...
A final thought: In addition to it's 'rareness', I find this 231 to be particularly 'sharp looking'. For me, the unique color combo just screams 'masculine elegance', and really suits my eye! In fact, this may be one of the 'best looking' 231's that I've seen!....
It is not a SL65, it is a SL65 “trim” ,way different 😊

Clearly it's a 2016 SL65 (BiTurbo V12) and the asking price certainly reflects that!...
I also think it's one of the best looking 231's I've ever seen, maybe even the very best! It's 'stunning' to my eyes and if I was 'a car collector', with the money to burn, I think I would be very tempted to make the Dealer an offer!
Definitely a rare car. The interior reminds me of Hermes orange, which I have seen in several RR Dawn’s. Lovely interior although am not sure about the Wood combo. The car needs to be seen in person to judge how the colors look and work with each other.
Caliper paint is standard for CCB’s.
One thing is relatively certain is that this car will not sell for this money; it’s overpriced by a good $20-$30k...
100% A SL65 AMG. That is a very rare optioned SL65 AMG without a shadow of a doubt! If I had an extra $117,000 for a car that would be on the top of the list!

It would be interesting to know how the order was placed to get this color combination. I tried to do a special color and was told to go pound salt. That said, this car is not my cup of tea, color wise. In addition, I ALMOST snookered myself into buying a 2017 SL65, from a dealer in Atlanta, photos below. I was smitten with the look of the car. Thank goodness Wolfman got me to actually drive one of these beasts before doing the deal. I drove down to San Diego where a 2018 was for sale and took it for a test drive. HORRIBLE! I truly HATED the car. In “comfort” mode, it rode like a frigging truck. The front end felt so heavy that it just crashed into every road imperfection. On a ribbon smooth highway, I’m sure the monstrous torque can be exhilarating, but the massive engine, coupled with the stiff suspension, on city streets, was like driving a Sherman Tank across the Baja! Beautiful cars, but I wouldn’t have one if it were free.
That Mystic Brown SL65 is more elegant than sporty, very stately color.
I've got my eye on an SL63 designo Cardinal Red metallic, black interior with CCB. Extremely sporty looking car; just don't know how I feel about going back to a two door. It might be my consolation if the E63s falls through.

As OP said, this car screams masculine, and I’d have to agree. It’s a beautiful automobile but, considering the mileage for a 2016, it seems overpriced. But we’re not talking about price here, just the rarity of the car, and it’s certainly unusual.

That would be incorrect. The SL65 was produced through 2018.

If I was in the market, and it ticked every box (except the colours) I would not purchase it. Reminds me of MBs that we owned when I was a kid growing up - so I find it old fashioned and dated. Just not for me however we are all different.
I love the brown. When I was shopping for my W212, my top two choices were designo Cardinal Red and Dolomite Brown - in that order. Got the red, but loved the brown almost as much. Very nice looking R231 IMO.

I've seen SL400's and SL550's up close and personal in the Dolomite Brown Metallic with Ginger Beige/Espresso Brown Nappa Interiors. It's a fantastic Exterior/Interior color combo especially in bright sun which really brings out the sparkle of that particular paint color...
I prefer Burlwood as the Trim option, but I've also seen the same Brown/Beige color combo with the lighter colored 'Satin Poplar' Wood Trim and I can assure that looks great as well. Also worth noting....There's a matching wood steering wheel for either of these wood Trim choices...(The MB wood steering wheel is one of those 'must have' options for me)
Too bad there aren't more 231's around with the Dolomite Brown/Ginger Beige color scheme. These particular Exterior/Interior color choices just really compliment each other... A 'very classy looking' color combination for sure!...
Note: Dolomite Brown Metallic was dropped during the 2019 SL model run but it was available for 6-years, (2013-2018).

Obviously, color preference is a personal thing. One person finds a color or a color combination pleasing, while someone else might hate it. I can remember back in the late 1970’s in the affluent “Westside” of L.A./Beverly Hills areas, when it seemed that EVERY big shot—or wannabe—in the entertainment business drove a “chocolate” brown 450SL with a tan interior. It was almost like a fashion accessory. Beautiful cars, but then something happened—who knows what—and people seemed to start shying away from brown cars. Some companies dropped most shades of brown from their offerings and the color just sort of disappeared. Anyway, brown cars can be beautiful, but MB’s brown offerings over the past several years have just not done it for me and with the few you see on the road, it would appear that I am not alone in my thinking.
Well, of course, there have been other great 231 colors as well, but not all Exterior and Interior Color combinations are as 'complimentary to each other' as the Brown/Beige combo shown in Post #16...
In fact, truth be told, my 'personal favorite' Exterior Color for the 231 continues to be Palladium Silver Metallic which can be seen from all angles in the video below! This one happens to have a Porcelain Nappa Interior with the Black Ash Trim.
Unfortunately, the lovely SL Palladium Silver Metallic Exterior Color was dropped after the 2015 model run of the 231.,,,
However, I'm very pleased to say it's the color of the 2013 SL 550 that I presently own! I purchased it as a CPO back in October of 2018 with just 15K on the odometer....
