Android Auto Not Working
I recently purchased a 2017 SL550. I can’t get Android Auto to work. Have tried 3 different phones and 5 different cables. One of the phone/cable combos I tried was my sons, which works fine on his car. I just noticed that when I go through the phone carousel in the infotainment system, it shows Apple CarPlay but not Android Auto. Both MB and my original sticker say the 2017 SL550 came with Android Auto.

Perhaps, if it's an early 2017, it didn't get loaded? During my search for a car, I found that the really early '17s didn't have it. I would think if it's not present, they owe it to you and should agree to load it for you. It's just a software add-on, so there shouldn't be any problem. My '17 450 was built in early November of '16, and while the V.I.N. de-coder says it has AA, I haven't had time to check yet...

Dr Manhattan is correct. I had the same issue with my own early production SL550. Your dealer can activate Android on your car - whatever you do, DON'T get a dongle to plug into your OBD port to activate Android. It is a lengthy procedure that can only be performed by your dealer. They need to send your VIN to Germany; The factory will produce a complete, vehicle-specific data load to update your entire vehicle Command module. Mine took a full day to install - they gave me a loaner for the job. Most dealers are unaware of this and many will tell you it canon t be done. IT DEFINATELY CAN BE DONE and should be done at no charge as all 2017 SL advertising and sales brochures advertised these vehicles would support both Apple & Android.

So I talked to the dealer in Greenville SC and at first he said nothing could be done. I told him what you said and he then agreed to look into it and get back to me.
If you don’t mind, what dealership updated your software and do you have a name and number?

Also for what it's worth, when I was in the market for an SL, I was initially looking at MY17 cars. I discovered that it wasn't until about August of the production year that they actually started installing AA on the 2017 cars from the factory. All the ones produced prior to that did not have it. More disappointingly, on the ones that DID have it, it didn't work. (At least not one I could find.)
I gave up and bought a 2018 and had no problems with AA. Subsequently I've heard of a couple of people managing to get the dealer to do the long, involved install based on building a new COMAND software image using the VIN, and apparently that does work on the 2017 if you can get the dealer to do it.
