SL/R231: mud/splash guards?

mud/splash guards?
One of the first things I usually do to a car I buy is install OEM mud guards to prevent damage to the painted panels behind the wheels and keep the car cleaner by reducing gutter water splash. I have been unable to find OEM ones for the R231 after a brief internet search. Aftermarket ones do not usually have the perfect fit needed for them to be unobtrusive and I do not want to do anything to detract from our cars good looks. Any thoughts?

Mercedes-Benz does offer no-drill mud flaps, (splash guards), as an accessory item for most models, (SUV's and Sedans for sure), but not sure if any were specifically intended, (or designed to fit), the SL Class 231 Series of vehicles.
Check with your local MB Dealer's Parts Department, they should be able to tell you!...

Splash Guards
Consider having 3M Clear Bra or EXPEL film installed on your rocker panels or splash areas. When installed properly, it is essentially invisible and does a wonderful job protecting these vulnerable areas. I have the entire front clip of all of our vehicles covered plus rocker panels and rear splash areas. Best if you can negotiate it into your purchase price prior to taking delivery as there is a very high-profit margin for the dealer on this protection. I was able to have it thrown into my deals for free to close the deal.
