SL/R231: Brake Caliper Text
Anyone experience this?
This is a low mileage vehicle that is garaged in the winter.
Although this was first noticed about five years after I purchased the car (new), my MB dealer will not warrant this.

The car is out of warranty but even if in warranty I wonder if it would be covered unless near new. While the caliper is not part of the consumable brake components, this is cosmetic wear that can be considered normal wear and tear. Harsh wheel cleaners do such things. Same as road rash on the wheels and body.
Also this car was manufactured 7-8 years ago. If you purchased the car only 5 years ago, was it standing at the dealer for 1-2 years?
My 2013 SL was purchased new at the MB dealer in 2013.
In 2017 is when I noticed the caliper text fading at an accelerated rate.
My MB dealer contacted corporate and they declined to do anything about it.
This week I am scheduled to have MB install Power Stop brake pads and replace the rotors and calipers.
I do hand wash all my vehicles...I was curious if any one else had this issue.
Attached is a photo of the front wheel...no fade.
