SL/R231: car locked, no key inside, but ventilated seat running!

car locked, no key inside, but ventilated seat running!
So, I did have the ventilated seat on the day before, but car had been parked overnight. It was a hot sunny day so I held the unlock button on the key to put the windows down a bit, then I locked it again. Through the open window I could hear something running. I unlocked the car, got in, the vented seat was running full blast. What gives??

Holding the unlock button will turn on your drivers ventilated seat too. I don't really understand what you are asking here. Its normal and makes total sense to me. If you want to cool off the car, press and hold the unlock button.

My ‘19 does the same thing but I have never sat in the seat to see how long the fan stays on. The system sucks anyway. On my wife’s XT5 and my F250 real AC air is pumped into the seats, not ambient air from inside the cab.

I was wondering why I was having trouble feeling any effect from the fan. I think you'd need to be naked in order for the system to do any good...

Yes, There is a small vent behind the seat back and the fan just pulls in air from behind the seat. It is a antiquated idea especially in locations like mine with temps. In the 90F-100F range 4 months of the year. There are much lower priced vehicles that blow actual AC into the seats. Pretty embarrassing for a 100k+ vehicle.
I can get into my F250 that has been sitting in the sun at 100F, turn the seat AC on full blast and within 2 minutes have to turn the blower speed down because my butt is too cold!😊
