I'm looking for a '13 SL. I'm guessing for a nice one that's accident free and under 30,000 miles, I'm probably going to have to spend around $40K. Does that sound right? And secondarily, what problems/issues did that year have (if any). Not that familiar with SLs but want to know what to look for. Thanks.

I have a 2013 SL550 with 40K miles. Finding one with 30K miles could be a challenge, but I'm sure they're out there. I bought mine 2 yrs ago as a CPO from a dealer. Mechanically it's been very reliable. The problems I had fixed under the warranty were mostly with the seats. The air reservoir had a leak and that wore out the pump. They replaced both under warranty. I had a trunk latching problem in cold weather. They did a software update under warranty, but that didn't fix the issue. After warranty was up I ended up replaced the trunk lock myself to fix that problem. Minor stuff, but even that can add up fast on an MB car.

The CPO for my car was basically bumper-to-bumper coverage thru the MB dealer where I purchased the car. They never gave me a hard time about my reported issues. I've seen some posts where people commented their CPO was not as extensive. Not sure why it would vary among MB dealers, but beware of that. You want bumper-to-bumper to shake out the inevitable small stuff that happens on this car.

Do know what options, colors, etc. you're looking for?

Thanks for the info on 231s. So, I bought one in Ft Lauderdale Saturday. I was looking for a black one but this was too good to pass up. One owner, 2014, white with white interior and only 18,150 miles. Got it for $43K. Best of all, there was a receipt in the glove compartment with the original owner's name address and phone number. I called him yesterday and he told me the car has never needed any work other than oil and filter changes. I think I got a good one.

Sounds like a great find, low miles and a reasonable price. Are you local to Ft Lauderdale or did you buy remotely?

I'm in Vero Beach, so it was about a two hour drive. I think it was worth it. Time will tell. I took it to Mercedes up by me to have it checked out and the top timing chain cover is leaking. Mercedes in Ft Lauderdale gave me a 90 day, 1000 mile warranty with the car. Fingers crossed that this will be covered.
