SL/R231: Center console door won't pop open.

Center console door won't pop open.
Today I open the centre console only to notice the right door did not flip up. This is a 2020 Mercedes Benz sl 550 with 1600 miles on it. Guess I will head to the dealer to find out what is going on.

A few others have had this problem from time to time, but you're under warranty so no worries. The only issue is that the dealers seem more inclined to want to replace the entire console, which I suppose they have to in order for it to be a legit warranty repair.
If you were out of warranty, I'd tell you to search the forums, because somewhere someone describes how to fix this by rewinding the tension spring inside the hinge.

This is a fairly common problem and at least with my low mileage 2015, the problem was the tiny plastic sleeve where the spring seats cracked. It requires replacement of the upper portion of the console (cushioned and accordion door unit) and costs something like $1k of it’s not under warranty.
