SL550 cruise of the Blue Ridge Parkway

My wife has been cooped up for almost five weeks after having complete knee replacement. So, this morning we uncovered her SL550 and took it out of the garage for the first ride in almost two months. We left our home in Beech Mountain with the top down and took a drive over to West Jefferson. First stop was the Havana Cafe for cuban and media noche sandwiches and an order of plantains. Next stop was Ashe County Cheese to stock up on our favorite cheeses for family and friends. We next headed South on the Blue Ridge Parkway to cruise down toward Asheville. A quick stop in Blowing Rock to pick up a couple cups of New Orleans pralines ice cream from Kilwin's to eat while we took in the scenery at Price Lake. The weather was quite nice with the high temperature of the day at 79* in West Jefferson. We sometimes forget how fortunate we are here in the Summer to have cool days while the valleys sizzle. Our last stop was at The Switzerland Inn for a beer for me and a glass of wine for the wife. The only negative was the views were not good due to heavy haze in the valleys. We took some photos and will post those later if you can actually see anything in them. The temperature at Beech Mountain was 73* when we got back at 3PM. All in all a great day for topless cruising.

For sure. We just finished washing and detailing the car before putting it away and are still full.
